We Sent ABEL to Ibiza. She Took the Boots.
ABEL is a DJ, producer, and mum of Stanley Beats and Basil Groove. We sent her a pair of Dukes. She took them straight to Ibiza. We asked her a few questions first.
Who are you — not the bio version. The one you'd give someone at the bar at 2am.
I am a music obsessed weirdo, addicted to touring, making music, staying up all night and not regretting a moment. I also can't get enough of my two sons Stanley Beats and Basil Groove, food in general especially Italian, Japanese and Mexican... Tequila, dancing (obviously), my 3 dogs and Portobello Market.
What have you gone after that wasn't supposed to be the right time?
In later life having grown in confidence, I always go after whatever I want. Even if I've just given birth I will be playing Fabric 2 weeks later and if there's a way to somewhere I want to be logistically I WILL make it happen even if I have a limb hanging off. What I have learnt is: not to chase the end result too soon, take your time and earn your stripes. Whether it's big stages or a 'hit' record as an artist or gaining an investor or recognition in the press as a brand. It will come but timing is everything and rushing things isn't good. The journey is as important as the end goal.
What are you playing right now?
I'm playing my new remix of Ramyen's Midnight Whispers which is currently topping the Indie Dance charts — which is very exciting.
